AMVETS – Post 2 – Commander’s Column

Our next meeting is scheduled for October 4, 2018
We have only four (4) members who have not paid their dues. If you are one of the four, please send in your dues and help us to achieve 100% paid membership.
I am attempting to put our records in order and need a copy of your discharge or separation papers. For those of you who have not sent in a copy of your DD-214 (or similar document) please send me a copy for our files. If your military number is your social security number, please black out the number. Thank you to those who have already submitted your document
At the meeting we will continue with our Donation Program. Attend the meeting and help us select the right organizations to donate to.
In 2019 a “9/11 Memorial” will be erected at the Veteran’s Park, in Salem, NH. The plan is to have the dedication on September 11, 2019. Plan to attend and become a part of this ceremony.
On October 6, 2018, at 1:00 PM, a Gold Star Mother’s Monument will be dedicated at the Boscawen Veteran’s Cemetery. If at all possible please plan to attend and pay our respects to the Gold Star Mothers, who have lost a son or daughter defending our right to remain free.
November’s meeting will be chaired by our First Vive Commander, Dennis Coleman, I will be unable to attend the meeting. Give Dennis the same support you have always shown to me.
In November we will have the traditional Veteran’s Breakfast on November 2nd, at the Woodbury School. The breakfast is free and it affords us the opportunity to interface with many of Salem’s veterans. On November 11th we will be holding the Veteran’s Day Ceremony at the Veteran’s Park, in Salem, NH. Plan to attend show your support for all our veterans.
This year we will be placing a wreath on each of the graves of of our four (4) deceased Past Commanders and one at our AMVETS Memorial Stone,at Pine Grove Cemetery. I feel that our Past Commanders should not be forgotten. Our Past Commanders are:
Daniel Ross, buried at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, in North Salem, NH
Kenneth Lundenburg, buried at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, in North salem, NH
Robert Stanley, buried at Pine Grove Cemetery, in Salem, NH
Woodrow Chmieleski, buried at Pine Grove Cemetery, in Salem, NH

At this time I wish to thank all our members, for their continued support and your service to our country. I will be at the Veteran’s Day Ceremony, please come by and introduce yourself to me.
