Yesterday was one of the best days I could experience as the Director of Veterans Services for Milton and Randolph. It was my honor and privilege to escort USMC Iwo Jima Veteran GYSGT Joel Krensky to the Massachusetts State House for Iwo Jima Day ceremonies, sponsored by the Marine League. We got there a little ahead of schedule and that allowed us time to meet with Senator Walter Timilty before the ceremonies. There were about 400 people there to honor 6 USMC Veterans and one US Navy Chief who were all at Iwo Jima 74 years ago.
After the ceremonies, Senator Walter Timility gave us a tour of the Senate Chamber and allowed us to see some of the State House incl a view off the balcony at the front of the State House. Senator Timility also gave Joel a citation from the Senate to honor his service in WW2 and specifically at Iwo Jima. We will continue to honor our every day heroes who went off to WW2 and ensured the safety of our nation so many years ago.
